I thought I was watching her for her ooey-gooey comfort food, but when I made a point of watching Nigella cook Asian-Spiced Kedgeree(?) I knew there was more to her than her ability to handle a whisk.
Until recently, I'd never seen a cooking show with sex appeal, albeit mild, since Padma Lakshmi made her brief debut in low-cut, cleavage-heavy summer dresses on Food Network's "Melting Pot" and "Padma's Passport". Nigella gives renewed appreciation to the full-figured Sweater Girl image as she heaves and cleaves in clingy-knit twinsets. The tight-shot, and occasionally blurred, camera angles a la Style-network should give "Nigella Bites" an edge in ratings as cooking and home improvement shows become increasingly popular.
Additionally, her enjoyment of her own cooking goes a step beyond plating and then stating, "this is a fabulous dish", as she dives in, tossing utensils to the wind, slurping every drippy glob of melted cheese, and sucking rivulets of sticky honey that ooze down her fingers (camera zooms in).
With mouth-watering images like these this Goddess of Domesticity almost makes marriage more palpable.
